PLEASE SAVE OUR HONEY BEES!   A WARNING FOR US HUMANS!

One third of the human diet comes from flowering crops, and honeybees are responsible for pollinating about 80 per cent of them  !

Write to your UK MP about stopping use of neonicotinoids in pesticides, other european countries have done so,

Message from the Canadian Facebook group of Earth Stewardship Alliance International:

"There are a variety of issues to consider, Insecticides, Changes in farming practice and loss of flora and fauna, cash crops such as rape, gentically modified crops and the potential for ecological disturbance (global warming) to cause biological influences that could cause new strains of insect disease. But lets stick with the basic facts, most problems are man made and so the first line of investigation would be to look at mans influence. The use of chemicals would require stringent tests to be completed for this Country, but ! if crops are sprayed in one Country and the bees get effected (on a genetic level) then this would have a knock on effect in other Countries as the bees move around. One other consideration is transboundary pollutants, (Pesticides coming across with weather systems) from illegal practices taking part in other locations. Biodiversity directives will offer some useful pointers and I will compile information repositories that can be uploaded on to our web site."

DATES WHEN SHARP DECLINE IN BEES WERE NOTED IN VARIOUS MAJOR COUNTRIES

Read the HUMAN ECOLOGICAL SOCIAL ECONOMIC PROJECT       [hese project]diary of incidents across the world noting bee decline, reports, enquiries, theories etc - notice 1990 was when mobile phones second generation became widespread and SMS text messaging launched in 2000 - third generation mobiles became commercially viable around 2007 but had been around since 2001 on commercial networks -  a few noteworthy dates listed below, but read the whole page with many references on bee decline worldwide

USA  1990  - between 1990 and 1996 one quarter commercial hives lost

FRANCE 1992 - waited 15 years before an enquiry in 2007!

SPAIN 1999 - major scientific report into CCD published in 2007 referring to investigations since 1999.
